History of the Ravens drum & bugle corps

The Ravens drum & bugle corps was set up in June 2008 for the purpose of the children of the community of athlone to obtain a skill in music & the marching arts.

The Ravens have a diverse group of children from all backgrounds in life and come together as one musical unit.

The Ravens 1st performance was in august of 2008 in arklow at the finals of the Irish marching band association competition.

From the following year the ravens competed in the junior class section to which they took home the all-Ireland junior title,

The next 4 years would see the Ravens take that title of champions of Ireland, in 2010 of that year the Ravens would Represent Ireland in Holland at the drum corps Europe finals in the 1st appearance from an Irish band where the band came in 5th.

2011 saw the Irish champions compete again and come 3rd in a very close run ending taking home the caption award of “high music” history had been made.

2012 again Irish champions competed in Europe coming in second place.

2013 came a restructure of the band and retraining as 2014 preparing ourselves for history to made once again this time in the United States at the drum corps international finals again the 1st time an Irish unit will compete.
